Working in partnership to reduce crime and disorder in the county

The 1998 Crime and Disorder Act led to the formation of five Community Safety Partnerships in Cambridgeshire:

  • Cambridge
  • East Cambridgeshire
  • Fenland
  • Huntingdonshire
  • South Cambridgeshire

Each partnership is made up of the Police, the District Council, the County Council, the Probation Service, the Primary Care Trust, the Fire Service and the Youth Offending Service as well as other public, private and voluntary agencies.

The partnerships are required to assess the amount of crime and disorder in their area and use the results to put into practice strategies designed to reduce the most common types of crime and disorder. The local community is given a chance to influence these strategies, e.g. through public meetings and questionnaires.

If you would like to find out more about the work in your area, or how you can get involved, please visit the Cambridgeshire Community Safety website.
