Reparation Orders
Reparation Orders are made for three months. They consist of the young person carrying out work which is designed to repair the harm they did to either the community or the victim.
Reparation Orders are designed to help young offenders understand the consequences of their offending and take responsibility for their behaviour. They require the young person to repair the harm caused by their offence either directly to the victim (this can involve victim/offender mediation if both parties agree) or indirectly to the community. Cambridgeshire Youth Offending Service has a specialist team which organises reparation projects within the community.
The number of hours of work that is carried out in a reparation order is decided by the court. The young person will have an allocated case worker from the Youth Offending Service who will be responsible for overseeing the order.
