For people who need help expressing their needs

The information on Advocacy provided here aims to provide a starting point for service users who, for a variety of reasons, may need support with expressing their needs.

It is also intended to be a useful training tool for use by existing and planned advocacy groups to promote consistent standards of service.

Included in "What is Advocacy?" are

  • Code of Practice for Advocacy Groups 
  • Checklists for Advocacy Groups and service providers
  • Advocacy Models
  • other forms of support

If you are not sure where to start to look for help, contact one of the organisations listed in "General Help and Advice".

If you know the name of the group you want to contact select "Organisations listed in alphabetic order" or "National Advocacy Organisations" which lists the head offices of organisations with local branches..
