Advice on the Benefits System

Cambridgeshire County Council produces welfare benefits advice fact sheets.

These are used by social workers and care managers when they give help to service users.

The fact sheets give basic guidance on a number of disability benefits and means tested benefits. Others explain what happens to benefits if a person goes into hospital and how working can effect "sickness" benefits. You can download the fact sheets from the links on the right.

If you require more detailed benefits advice for yourself you can contact the Village Benefits Advice Service - a home visiting service for people living in Cambridgeshire's villages - for an appointment - simply telephone 01353 666990.

Other organisations that give advice include:

  • Citizen's Advice Bureau - nationwide advice service.
  • Cambridge and Huntingdon Law Centres (formerly Independent Advice Centres).
  • Disability Cambridgeshire and Disability Information Huntingdonshire (DISH) - give advice and help to disabled people and their carers.

Please click onto the links under External Links (on the right hand side of the page) to view the website of the above organisations.
