Can I get Direct Payments for my disabled child?

If your disabled child has been assessed by social care services as needing care, it is possible to receive cash to arrange the care services for your child yourself instead of social services arranging the care on your behalf.

The payment you get will be equivalent to the amount of money social care services would have spent arranging the care services outlined in your child's care plan.

The advantages of this are that you can arrange the care to suit your family.

On the right of this page are guides - the first is a step by step guide for the parents of disabled children.

The second guide is written specifically for Young Disabled Adults - who may wish to take advantage of the flexibility offered by Direct Payments.
