Licensing Act 2003 - Safeguarding Children in Cambridgeshire
Extras

Why is the Office of Children and Young People involved in the granting of licenses to sell alcohol?

The Licensing Act 2003 requires that all applications for licences to sell alcohol be reviewed by Responsible Authorities, of which the County Council, as Social Care Services Authority, is one.

We then have to look at the applications from our perspective as the body responsible for protecting children from harm.

Thus all licensing applications come to the Department's Designated Officer in the Office of Children and Young People's Services.  The Designated Officer will review and make representation where it is felt necessary (or when allowed).

Any concerns about the operations of premises in Cambridgeshire should be reported to the local licensing authorities listed in the Information document (see right hand side of page) or to the Designated Officer via the email link listed to the right.

Safeguarding Children Licensing Act 2003

For the purposes of the Licensing Act 2003, Cambridgeshire County Council's Office of Children and Young People's Services is the Designated Responsible Authority for Safeguarding Children.

Until further notice all applicants should send their applications to:

Peter Wilson, Designated Officer - Licensing Act 2003 at the contact address shown on the right.
