Managing difficult behaviour in children ...
Extras

If you are having trouble coping with your child's behaviour ...

.... or someone you know is having such problems, then there are resources available in the community to help you.

Such behaviour may include for instance;

  • staying out late
  • absconding
  • boyfriend / girlfriend problems
  • being "in with the wrong crowd" (see Youthoria - for teenagers in Cambridgeshire)

(However, if a young person is breaking the law, the matter should be reported to the Police - for example: stealing)

Help available includes services such as:

  • after school activities and clubs (see Cambridgeshire.net)
  • play schemes (see District Council websites)
  • youth clubs (see Youthoria)

Other sources of ideas on coping with difficult behaviour in young people include national web based resources like "Parentline Plus" or "e.parents" (see links on right)

There are also local resources like:

  • family, relatives and friends
  • the child's school
  • Mothers Union (christian care for families) - or relevant religious / cultural support group (like Cogwheel Trust)
  • Health Professionals, (Health Visitor), including your GP, who might have been involved with the child in the past
  • Voluntary organisations as listed in Cambridgeshire.net our database of local support groups, community organisations, events, activities, courses and news
  • Centre 33 (free and confidential services for young people in south and east Cambridgeshire & Cambridge City)
  • Big Sibs (in Cambridge City) or other student support / befriending initiatives

If the behaviour of pre-school children is giving cause for concern, resources available include:

  • Childrens Centres
