Work on these topics is often referred to as Sex and Relationships Education (SRE). However it is also often referred to as Relationships and Sexual Health work as it stresses the importance of work on relationships and feelings.
All relationships and sexual health work should:
. Ensure that the welfare of the child or young
person is paramount
. Be an integral part of ongoing work and not
the subject of one-off interventions
. Be inclusive and respect diversity
. Encourage the development of personal skills
and attitudes that empower young people to
make informed decisions
. Help young people access appropriate
services
. Provide opportunities to challenge attitudes
and values in a positive environment
