Disabled Parking Badges
For people with substantial and permanent disabilities.
The Blue Badge scheme replaced the well known Orange Badge Scheme on 1 April 2000. The Orange Badges are no longer valid.
The Blue Badge provides parking concessions for people with severe walking difficulties who travel as either driver or passenger. The badge belongs to the person and not to the car. You can use the badge in any car you are travelling in. You do not have to drive your own car to be eligible for a blue badge.
Details of where you can and cannot park are covered in the explanatory leaflet provided with the badge. The leaflet also explains how and where you can use your badge abroad.
Most car parks provide dedicated disabled badge parking places but not all car parks are free, so you will need to check the charges board at that car park. The badge also allows you to park on the roadway in some areas where other people cannot park.
Only the person named on the badge is entitled to use the badge. You must not lend your badge to other people.
If you are found to be misusing your badge you may have your badge removed from you.
Cambridgeshire can only issue disabled parking badges to people who are resident in Cambridgeshire. If you are resident in another County you will need to apply to the Council there for a Blue Badge. (Neighbouring councils are listed here)
Cambridgeshire charges £2 for each badge issued (which contributes towards administrative costs associated with the process). This charge can be paid on-line by credit card, or you can provide our staff with your bank details at the time of the call and they will process the payment on your behalf - or by cheque, or postal order.
If you reside in Cambridgeshire and want to apply for a Blue Badge please telephone:
