Safer Homes Service
Extras

- making your home safer as you get older

A new "Safe Homes Service" provided in partnership with Cambridge City Council and Cambridgeshire Primary Care Trust has been developed with Age Concern offering an assessment service to older people.

The scheme reviews the home environment and aims to keep your home safe, to highlight risks and then works with the partners to modify, free of charge, minor hazards which contribute to falls, accidents and preventable hospital admissions.  For example:

  • installing a second banister rail,
  • securing mats and carpeting,
  • fitting of security chains and smoke alarms

The service can also make onward referrals, with your permission, to offer specialist assistance and support.  Following the assessment Age Concern will arrange for a contractor to call and complete the works recommended.  Telephone 01223 506061
