When to look for a Nursing  Care Home rather than Residential Care Home

Nursing Care Homes care for people whose frailty requires nursing care on a regular basis by, or under the supervison of, a qualified nurse.  A nursing home cares for people who have conditions such as:

  • limited or no mobility,
  • severe mental confusion or
  • faecal incontinence.

This type of Home will be run by a voluntary or a private agency and be registered and regularly inspected by the Commission for Social Care Inspection.  The local office can supply lists of local Nursing Care Homes (01223 771350).  Or search the Services Directory of their website www.csci.org.uk.
