What is Self-Directed Support?
Self-Directed Support is the way that Adult Social Care in Cambridgeshire is delivered. It involves identifying and allocating a Personal Budget - an upfront sum of money to meet an individual's needs. Personal Budgets will be available to all adults who are eligible for support from adult social care. They are designed to help people take control over their lives, identify their own needs and the things that they want to do and, if they wish, to manage their own support - with help if they need it.
This chapter explains some of the common terminology associated with Self-Directed Support, provides copies of Government guidance about the background to the changes, and answers some of the frequently asked questions about Self-Directed Support in Cambridgeshire.
If you are a service user or carer you will find information about Self-Directed Support and what it means for you and the person you care for on Cambridgeshire's Adult Social Care website called Your Life, Your Choice.
