Applying for a renewal
To avoid possible delays brought about by processing a large number of renewal requests, we have taken the decision to replace passes early. We believe that this action will help everyone positively.
To help you receive your pass we are asking you to wait until you receive your letter inviting you to apply. This request helps us to manage in an orderly way the very large numbers we are expecting.
Your old pass can be used whilst you are expecting your new one. However you must destroy the old one as soon as the new one arrives.
The changes from April 2011
From April 2011 Cambridgeshire County Council took full responsibility for the provision of concessionary bus passes in the county. This means that where eligible residents used to apply to their district councils for their pass, from April applications need to be made to Cambridgeshire County Council. If you already have a bus pass issued by your district council you do not need to reapply now that responsibility has changed to Cambridgeshire County Council as these passes will remain valid until the printed expiry date. See above about renewing your bus pass. Existing concessionary bus pass holders' information has been transferred to the County Council in order to continue the service. This data will be used only for the purpose of continuing the concessionary bus pass scheme. All data will be kept confidential.
Passes become "smart"
Your national bus pass can now be used as a 'smart' pass on Stagecoach and Whippet buses. Just place it on top of the ticket machine each time you travel, and wait for your ticket to print. You don't need to change your bus pass, but if you think your pass is damaged, or you have experienced problems having it accepted on the smart system, you may need to obtain a replacement pass by calling 0345 045 1367.
