There are currently access restrictions into Cambridge city centre that control access by motor vehicles. The details below give an outline of how the restrictions affect motor vehicles and you are provided with appropriate web links to specific information so that you should be able to find what you require before making your journey into Cambridge.
Rising bollards/access limitations
Automatic rising bollards operate on some routes in the central area. They close the route to through traffic except for authorised buses and taxis, which are issued with electronic tags to lower the bollards. Cycles are permitted to use the routes dedicated cycle lanes provided.
The routes are closed to unauthorised vehicles (by the bollards) at the following times:

Loading and unloading in the Pedestrian Zone
The legitimate loading and unloading of a vehicle can take place outside the 10am-4pm restricted access hours. Please see our pedestrian zone access web page to find out about the restrictions for that area.
On many other streets in the city loading and unloading times are controlled, these restrictions are signed on-street.
Pedestrian Zone Access - Permits
Some blue badge holders may be given permits to enter the pedestrian zone, please visit our disabled access web page to apply for a permit.
