Apply for a disabled parking bay
If you are thinking of applying for a disabled bay there are some criteria which you will have to satisfy and which we have outlined below:
- the applicant has no access to suitable off-street parking facilities;
- the applicant holds a Blue disabled drivers badge;
- the applicant is regularly unable to park conveniently near to his/her residence, due to heavy on-street parking;
- the applicant is either the driver of the vehicle or the driver is resident at the same address as the applicant;
- a suitable location for a disabled bay can be found, that is acceptable to the police, and
- that the application is supported by the local Member and the Parish Council.
The name and address of applicants will not be included in any reports on the matter, to avoid the possibility of revealing the location of a potentially vulnerable member of the community.
Disabled parking bays can be applied for using the online form under external links or by downloading the printable application form under publications below.
There are legal processes involved and due to this, applications can take some time to assess before a decision is made. For details on the procedure followed see ‘procedure’
Whilst a bay may be provided, applicants are reminded that the bay cannot be reserved for their sole use and will be available to any other Blue Badge holder.
