Suspended Parking Bays

This is where it is necessary to reserve a space for a vehicle in pay and display bay or in a resident permit holder bay. A suspension would be given for:

  • weddings
  • funerals
  • moving house
  • for work on the highway
  • for building works where the vehicle concerned is necessary to complete the task (see waivers above)
  • to maintain safe traffic flow

The first three types of suspension are only available to residents and only in the bay immediately outside their own house (or church for weddings and funerals). These reasons are among the most traumatic times that we experience and this is designed to help residents at these stressful times.

The remaining reasons are for public safety and to ensure that necessary work can be completed. There are administration charges to cover the cost of a suspension and these vary with location, type of bay and duration.

Application forms and details of charges can be requested from the contacts to the right.

Please note that a suspension requires 5 working days notice to arrange the signs and cones and post the permits - signs are put in place at least three days before the suspension so that regular users of the bay are made aware of the impending suspension.
