Sections of guideway have started to be laid

The Council has appointed Edmund Nuttall Ltd to build the Guided Busway. Nuttall has built their main site office and compound on land adjacent to the B1050 between Willingham and Longstanton.

We are also in the process of acquiring the land that the busway will be built on. All of the landowners who have land that is needed for the busway have already been contacted by the Guided Busway team.

Another element of the work we are doing now is agreeing the detail of what the bus stops will look like & what the landscaping will be like with the District Councils. Representatives from local communities effected by these designs are being asked for their views.

This is known as "discharging the planning conditions." There are a number of environmental planning conditions to be discharged.

We expect that the busway will take two years to complete, with the first bus services running on the busway by spring 2009.

You can find out more about progress of the scheme by reading our regular updates. You can find these on the left hand side of your screen.

If you would like to receive the updates directly by email, please contact the Guided Busway team using the details on the right hand side of your screen.
