In today's world, the fast and efficient delivery of goods has provided us with more choice and more freedom to buy what we want. 

The road network of Cambridgeshire supports a wide range of local as well as national operators travelling the County to bring us anything from fresh foods and money for our cash machines to petrol for our cars. 

However, the County Council recognises that this freedom of choice cannot be at the expense of our environment or our local communities.  We take seriously the need to reconcile the needs of both the local communities of Cambridgeshire and the lorry operators.  We want to ensure that access requirements for lorries are properly balanced with local environment and safety concerns.
