This report updates the Joint Accident Data Report 2011, and draws together
• STATS 19 data collected by Cambridgeshire Constabulary about personal injury accidents occurring in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. Unless otherwise stated, all graphs and tables in this report are derived from STATS 19 accident data and are for the combined area of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough (Stats 19 is the name of the accident report form used by the Police);
• National Statistics mortality data taken from the Compendium of Population Health Indicators about the numbers of Cambridgeshire residents’ and deaths attributed to motor vehicle traffic accidents; and
• NHS data about people attending accident and emergency departments as a result of road traffic accidents, and people admitted to hospital as a result of land based transport accidents.
Chapters One to Nine contain a breakdown of Stats19 data by locality and type of road user. Accidents and casualties are generally tabulated for 2012, the preceding two years, and the 2005-09 average. Graphs show trends between 2002 and 2012.
Chapter Ten combines Stats19 information on drivers breath tested following accidents with more comprehensive police data on all breath test failures.
Chapter Eleven contains NHS data about patients attending accident and emergency (A & E) departments as a consequence of road accidents and people admitted to hospital as a result of injuries sustained in land-based transport accidents. National Statistics mortality data provided to the NHS is included in Chapter Two.
The percentages in this report have been rounded and therefore do not always add up to 100%.
