The 2011 Joint Road Casualty Data Report

This report updates the Joint Accident Data Report 2010, and deaths attributed to motor vehicle traffic accidents; and

• NHS data about people attending accident and emergency departments as a result of road traffic accidents, and people admitted to hospital as a result of land based transport accidents.

Chapters One to Nine contain a breakdown of Stats19 data by locality and type of road user. Accidents and casualties are generally tabulated for 2011, the preceding two years, and the 2005-09 average. Graphs show trends between 2001 and 2011.

Chapter Ten combines Stats19 information on drivers breath tested following accidents with more comprehensive police data on all breath test failures.

Chapter Eleven contains NHS data about patients attending accident and emergency (A & E) departments as a consequence of road accidents and people admitted to hospital as a result of injuries sustained in land-based transport accidents. National Statistics mortality data provided to the NHS is included in Chapter Two.

The percentages in this report have been rounded and therefore do not always add up to 100%.
