February 2006
A Planning Application to seek permission to construct the proposed road was submitted to the County Planning Authority (CPA) in February 2006. A consultation was then undertaken by the CPA with local residents and interested groups.
The biggest issue raised through that consultation was that of traffic, so an independent consultant was brought in to check that the assumptions made in the traffic models and the figures generated were correct.
Following a range of comments and suggestions, as well as a series of meetings with partners, some minor amendments were made, and some further information provided.
March 2006
Project Team attended a public meeting in Great Shelford and gave presentation on the road and a Q&A session.
May & June 2006
Meetings held with local interest groups and stakeholders to finalise the Supplementary Report.
Responses to the planning application consultation used to amend some details of the road.
November 2006
The amended application was then referred to the Development Control Committee on Monday, 13 November 2006, where it was approved.
The application was then referred to the Secretary of State for approval, as some parts of the new road are in the Green Belt.
