The new Bus Interchange at Cambridge rail station provides a high-quality public transport hub for passengers around the county.
The Bus Interchange will have nine new bus shelters. They will have in-shelter real-time passenger information and be colour-coded to match a particular route, making it easier for passengers to find the correct stop for their journey.
The scheme costs £1.5 million with funding provided by the Housing Growth Fund.
Phase One
Phase one of construction is now completed and has six new shelters installed. Two of the shelters are also being used by busway services.
Phase Two
The second phase of work will be carried out by the developer’s contractor, Wates. This is to allow them enough working space to complete construction of the student accommodation adjacent to the Bus Interchange area (known as buildings M1 and M2). The cost of this phase of work will be paid for by the developer.
Tree planting
Tree planting will start early in 2012 and be completed once the whole scheme has been built.
