In 2004 the public helped to choose a winning design for a new foot and cycle bridge in Cambridge, which is part of an ambitious programme by Cambridgeshire County Council to improve existing footpaths and cycle ways.

As well as providing a vital link for cyclists and pedestrians, the design of the new Riverside foot and cycle bridge adds to Cambridge's outstanding architectural legacy of excellence.

The new bridge is now open to the public.
