We would like to thank all those who sent in comments regarding Sapley Road cycleway. Of those people that responded there was an overwhelming level of support for the scheme.

What happens now?

All the comments and objections were taken forward to the Huntingdonshire Traffic Management Area Joint Committee on the 10th of March 2008. The committee which is made up of locally elected County and District Councillors decided that the scheme should proceed as detailed on the original plans.

The works are scheduled to start on the 31st of March 2008 and should last for approximately 15 weeks, the works will be carried out for Cambridgeshire Highways by John Henrys Group.

The new shared use cycleway will have a minimum width of 2m along Sapley Road as shown in Plan 1 (PDF 77kb). The new route will be just short of 2km in length and will link up with the existing cycleway that currently ends at Robertson Way. The route will run along the western side of Sapley Road to its junction with Main Street.
