Cambridgeshire County Council is consulting on proposals for a new shared use footway / cycleway which will improve cycling and walking facilities. The proposed scheme is part of Cambridgeshire County Council and the District Council’s Cycling strategy from December 1999.
The new shared use pedestrian / cycleway will improve the access for cyclists and pedestrians within Yaxley to both the Primary and Junior Schools, the shopping centre as well as providing a link to Hampton, Peterborough. It will also provide a quality off-road walking and cycling route between Farcet and Yaxley, to Stanground College and into the Peterborough cycling network.
The new route aims to create a safer link from the Peterborough City Boundary on the A15 and the Manor Farm area to the Broadway in Farcet, improving pedestrian and cyclist facilities.
Huntingdon District Council working in partnership with the County Council, Town and Parish councils and other groups hope this proposed scheme helps to promote cycling.
