Responsibilities
The County Council is responsible for ensuring that verges are cut as frequently as necessary to ensure safety for highways users.
District and Parish Councils are often prepared to pay for more cuts so that the verges in towns and villages are maintained to a higher standard.
Where Districts or Parishes require these higher standards they normally carry out the work themselves, with the County Council contributing the amount that would have been spent.
If you want to report an overgrown grass verge, please use the online form Highway Defects.
