Temporary Winter Maintenance Regime (Jan 2010)
A national shortage of salt and a new countrywide rationing system means that Cambridgeshire has had to review its gritting operation.
In line with neighbouring counties such as Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire will now grit ‘A’ roads and a priority network of ‘B’ roads as well as waterside roads, such as those next to drains in the Fens and routes to hospitals. This will continue until sufficient new deliveries of rock salt can be secured. Drivers are being asked to take extra care during these times and not to expect all the roads that would normally be gritted to be treated. In addition they are asked to watch out for pot holes that are occurring as a result of the freeze and thaw action of the weather. If you want to report a pothole please follow the link to the right.
Maps showing which routes will continue to be gritted (red) and those routes that are normally treated but have been temporarily removed due to national rationing (blue) can be accessed to the right under publications.
