Find out more about the work of these teams and how the Council is working to reduce road traffic casualties in Cambridgeshire on these pages.

The overall objective of the Council's road safety strategy is to achieve targets of no more than 360 deaths and serious injuries, 3000 slight casualties and 24 child deaths or serious injuries  by the year 2010. These targets were developed following the issuing of targets by central government in March 2000.

The Council achieved its challenging Public Service Agreement target to achieve no more than 481 deaths and serious injuries by 2003. We have recently negotiated a further stretch target with the Government of no more than 462 deaths or seriously injured in 2007.

We aim to change public attitudes, to encourage responsible use of the County's roads by all road users, especially vehicle drivers.
