Fenland road

Part of the charm of Cambridgeshire is its long rivers and waterways, which are often alongside long straight roads. There are around 74km of highway in Cambridgeshire that run immediately alongside significant watercourses, and while these waterways unquestionably add to the beauty of the area, they have also claimed the lives of many drivers and passengers who have drowned - often due to driver error.

Remember!

  • Drive at a suitable speed for the road and conditions.
  • Be careful when overtaking.
  • Always wear a seatbelt.

For a leaflet on what to do should you enter water in a vehicle please contact the Road Safety Team.

The leaflet is available in English, Portuguese, Latvian, Russian, Polish and Lithuanian.
