Under the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations (1999) it is an employer's responsibility to ensure the health and safety of their employees at work, including driving for work – be it in a private, or company vehicle. Additionally the new Corporate Manslaughter and Homicide Act (2007) reinforces the responsibility of a company to comply with this existing health and safety legislation.
