Cambridgeshire County Council is taking part in a School Travel Plan National Accreditation scheme, run by the national charity for sustainable school travel; Modeshift.
The scheme awards School Travel Plans either a Sustainable (Bronze), Higher Standards (Silver) or Outstanding (Gold) level, depending on the amount of commitment that a school shows to developing sustainable travel schemes and initiatives after the original STP has been developed and approved.
Accreditation in Cambridgeshire
2010 saw the first school in Cambridgeshire awarded an Accreditation with The Grove Primary School in Cambridge being awarded the Sustainable level.
In 2011 four schools in Cambridgeshire were successful in being awarded an accreditation for the quality of their School Travel Plan and for commitment they showed to increasing sustainable travel to school.
Barton Primary School was awarded the Sustainable Award for their newly written School Travel Plan while Oakington Primary School, The Grove Primary in Cambridge and The Bellbird Primary in Sawston all managed to achieve the Outstanding Award. This is an amazing achievement for the schools as there were only 6 schools outside of London that were awarded the highest level this year.
