Advisory freight map

The fast and efficient delivery of goods is very important to us all, but Cambridgeshire County Council recognises that this should not be at the expense of the environment or local communities.

The Advisory Freight Map (2Mb) aims to reconcile the needs of local communities and lorry operators, and we hope to better manage HCV traffic by giving freight companies the Highway Authority’s preferred routes to consider, when planning their journeys.

Cambridge City Centre

The Cambridge city centre map (2Mb) displays recommended access points into and out of the city. HCVs should only use the routes within Cambridge if they are collecting or delivering within the city centre. Please note that City centre access is restricted by rising bollards.

Using the route map

Strategic routes (dark blue)

The strategic routes (dark blue) on the map are through routes, those recommended for HCV journeys to get as near as possible to their destination.

Local routes (light blue)

The local routes (light blue) are those which should be used to get from a strategic route to a destination.

Weight restricted areas (red hatched)

The local routes shown going through weight restricted areas will only be available for HCVs with premises there or deliveries to make in the area.
