The County Council is required by the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) to prepare an annual Local Aggregate Assessment (LAA). Prepared jointly by officers from Cambridgeshire County Council and Peterborough City Council (with input from members of the East of England Aggregate Working Party), the LAA will be used to help the county meet its obligation to plan for the steady and adequate supply of aggregates.
The Local Aggregate Assessment provides an annual evaluation of aggregate supply and demand in the county and is based on a rolling average of the previous 10 years sales data and other relevant information, such as impending infrastructure projects and an assessment of all supply options. National and Sub National Guidelines on future aggregate provision are also taken into account. Based on this data the LAA set outs annual apportionment levels which will be used to manage future supply.
In addition to the Annual Monitoring Review, the LAA reports on key information that is used to monitor the progress and effectiveness of the policies in the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Minerals and Waste Development Plan Documents (DPD).
