Customer and Digital Services Directorate

The Customer and Digital Services Directorate is responsible for the following areas within Cambridgeshire County Council:

The Communications and Information Team incorporates three main functions:

  • External media management, campaigns and partnership working
  • Internal communications, staff engagement and branding
  • Management of the Council's website, content and future development

Customer Services is the point of contact for enquiries and requests for 21 areas of service - on the phone, by email and face to face at three reception sites. The department annually handles 170,000+ telephone calls and 207,000+ non-phone contacts.

The Emergency Planning Team is responsible for:

  • Meeting our obligations as a 'Category One' responder - under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004
  • Providing a 24/7 operational response to major emergencies and incidents
  • Ensuring the Council has robust business continuity arrangements
  • Site specific emergency planning, e.g. Control of Major Accident Hazards

The Information Governance Team leads on the Council's compliance with Data Protection legislation, information sharing, information security, records management, and processing requests under the Freedom of Information Act and Environmental Information Regulations.

IT and Digital Operations supports the range of business systems the Council relies upon to deliver its services. The team's work includes:

  • Escalation point for all IT issues
  • Strategic direction for the Council's use of business systems and technologies
  • Procuring, delivering and developing our business systems
