LGSS is a public sector shared services venture owned by Cambridgeshire County Council, Northamptonshire County Council and Milton Keynes Council (shareholder/founding partner councils) to provide the full range of business support services to these authorities and other public sector organisations.
LGSS coordinates all financial planning, management and reporting across the council, and ensures compliance with financial regulations. It also oversees the management of the council's strategic asset management portfolio and administration of the local government pension scheme in Cambridgeshire. It also provides audit services to the council.
LGSS provides strategic, professional and advisory services in human resources, including learning and development, payroll, workforce planning and strategy, and health, safety and wellbeing.
Law and Governance
LGSS oversees all legal matters and provides democratic services to support Cambridgeshire County Councillors. The LGSS Director also fulfils the role of Monitoring Officer.
LGSS provides the infrastructure, strategy and support to enable the organisation get the most from its Information Technology (IT) systems.
Business Systems, Services and Change
LGSS provides a comprehensive procurement service to help the council achieve best value for money, including insurance, as well as business transformation and change management services.
