The Queen's Platinum Jubilee

Her Majesty The Queen

The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee 2022

In 2022, Her Majesty The Queen will become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, seventy years of service, having acceded to the throne on 6 February 1952 when Her Majesty was 25 years old.

There will be year-long Platinum Jubilee celebrations throughout the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth and around the world as communities and people come together to celebrate The Queen’s historic reign.

Throughout the year, Her Majesty and members of the Royal Family will travel around the country to undertake a variety of engagements to mark this historic occasion culminating with the focal point of the Platinum Jubilee Weekend in June.

An extended bank holiday, from Thursday 2 to Sunday 5 June, will provide an opportunity for communities and people throughout the United Kingdom to come together to celebrate the historic milestone. The four days of celebrations will include public events and community activities, as well as national moments of reflection on The Queen’s 70 years of service.

Although the majority of events will take place between June 2 and June 5, it should regarded as “a year of celebration” and key to the concept is that the whole nation are encouraged to celebrate. This includes all of us in Cambridgeshire. Community clubs and organisations, civic bodies, schools, emergency services, religious groups, commercial organisations and sports clubs are encouraged to arrange a whole variety of events and so are neighbours across all communities in Cambridgeshire. So why not think about how the Jubilee could be celebrated where you live?

Everyone is encouraged to get involved in organising or attending events during the whole of 2022 throughout our County of Cambridgeshire. Please see the details that follow for more information.

A wide range of events will be arranged across Cambridgeshire to complement a series of national celebrations as follows:
