Coleridge Community Action, Cambridge - Covid-19

We are a neighbourhood, volunteer led organisation set up at the start of the Covid19 pandemic and covering Coleridge ward in Cambridge city. The aim has been to help people in need during the pandemic such as shopping, collecting prescriptions & telephone befriending .

This service closes on March 31st 2021 after running for more than a year and providing voluntary help to many residents in Coleridge ward. Demand has slowly ebbed away as people adapt to the Coronavirus restrictions and find other means of support. There is now minimal use of the service so closing has become inevitable.

There is an alternative service that provides similar help to which you may be entitled. This is called the NHS Responder service and can be found here by phone; 0808 196 3646 (8am to 8pm, 7 days a week) to arrange support. Or online at; https://nhsvolunteerresponders.org.uk/
Eligibility is detailed at the above website address.
Some of the tasks the Responder service will undertake are as follows:
o Collecting shopping, medicines and other important items.
o Have regular contact with people by making regular friendly phone calls
o Getting people to medical appointments by giving lifts.

For older aged people Age UK also offers a wide variety of advice and services and they are to be found here by phone; 0800 678 1602 or online at; https://www.ageuk.org.uk/

Our Foodhub will continue to run every Thursday afternoon 3.30 – 5.30 at St Thomas’s Hall, Ancaster Way for the foreseeable future. Further details here; http://coleridgecommunityforum.org/

Our very best wishes for a safe future,

The Coleridge Community Action Team
