What’s it all about: Devolution, the Combined Authority and your Mayor

There has been much talk recently about buzzwords such as ‘devolution’, ‘the combined authority’ and a ‘Mayor for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough’. Ahead of the elections which take place on 4th May, we’ve brought together a guide to explain what’s happened so far and why you should make your vote count.  

Through a process known as ‘devolution’, councils across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough now have powers to directly control what happens in our area.

Councils will continue to deliver services for residents as they do currently. However, decisions about travel, infrastructure and housing will now be made locally by the newly formed Combined Authority who will based here in our region and who understand the real issues we face.
