You may have seen the BBC News online story about some road markings outside a school, which has been shut for years, in Papworth Everard.
We have apologised for the mistake and wanted to explain – we were at the location carrying out some crack sealing work to improve the road surface, as part of this work it includes replacing any road markings/lines. Unfortunately, the lining crew reached the faded school markings and replaced these without appreciating the school had been shut for some time.
We will be on site tomorrow to remove the markings, at no cost to the taxpayers. This was a genuine mistake and we have worked to fix it as quickly as possible.
