Many couples who were seeking to marry or form a civil partnership in recent years were heavily impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, along with associated businesses.
The good news is that certainty is returning and hundreds of couples are enjoying celebrating their special day in Cambridgeshire each month, surrounded by friends and family and without the threat of lockdowns.
As well as the council’s own Ceremony Rooms there are 77 approved venues across Cambridgeshire. These venues offer something for everyone and are based in various villages, towns and cities, ranging from small intimate locations to large country houses or city colleges. Many also offer the option of ceremonies outside, depending on the weather.
Cllr Tom Sanderson, Chair of the Communities, Social Mobility and Inclusion Committee, said: “We are incredibly proud of our ceremonies team, who have worked hard to help couples overcome many challenges over the past two years. Even during periods of Covid restrictions the team strived to make ceremonies as special as possible.
“It’s been lovely to see ceremonies returning to pre-pandemic levels, with at least 2000 planned for the year ahead. The service has bookings as far ahead as summer 2025 already, but there is still plenty of availability for couples thinking of tying the knot.”
The ceremonies team offers couples the opportunity to personalise their ceremony, with more and more couples opting to do so.
Thanks to the online booking system offering 24/7 access couples can even check availability book our services when visiting their chosen location. Full details, including details of all 77 approved venues, can be found on our website at https://www.cambridgeshireceremonies.co.uk/
The service also offers naming ceremonies for children, with these often used to celebrate new arrivals and sometimes following straight on from a marriage or civil partnership. The renewal ceremony available is ideal for couples who had a disrupted pandemic ceremony, and would like to celebrate with those they couldn’t invite previously.
In fact, the service is currently experiencing such high demand they are currently seeking additional staff. If you’d like to help make special days happen why not apply to join the ceremonies team? Working with customers and our partners, at life changing and emotional times requires a sensitive yet confident approach - acting with authority whilst still maintaining a friendly, warm manner.
