A special day of action will be held in St Neots this week to raise awareness of the importance of road safety.
Cambridgeshire and Peterborough’s Vision Zero Partnership are organising the event for Project EDWARD (Every Day Without A Road Death) on Tuesday 16th May.
Project EDWARD is the biggest national platform for raising road safety awareness. Residents and visitors are invited to visit the Market Square in St Neots between 10am and 2pm on Tuesday, where they will have the opportunity to speak to a variety of road safety partners.
These will include representatives from the Police and Fire Service, Peterborough and Cambridgeshire Advanced Motorcyclists, Speedwatch, the Road Victims Trust and the British Horse Society, as well as many other road safety professionals. Furthermore, there will also be the opportunity for a free bike check, to make sure bicycles are in perfect working order.
The event is being run by the Vision Zero Partnership to raise awareness and engage communities in relevant road safety and community safety messages, furthering the commitment to preventing all road deaths across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, and to significantly reduce the severity of injuries.
Residents of St Neots are encouraged to attend this event not only to learn more about road safety, but to discuss their issues and concerns which affect their lives locally.
Councillor Alex Beckett, Chair of Cambridgeshire County Council’s Highways and Transport Committee, said: “The work that the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Vision Zero Partnership do is so important to reducing risks on the road and saving lives, and Project EDWARD is no different. Everyone should feel safe whilst using our roads, which is why I urge residents to attend the Market Square in St Neots for this Day of Action on Tuesday.”
“There will be some fantastic people in attendance who all specialise in road safety, and, on behalf of my colleagues, I’d like to thank them for the fantastic work they do every day. Please attend this important event and let’s help make our roads safer.”
