Children's imaginations can fly on a new magic carpet, which has been donated to Central Library by a local business.

Anne and Emily Campbell, from Blue Butterfly Flooring Ltd, were inspired to donate the rug after seeing their grandchildren enjoy Storytime and Rhymetime sessions at the library.

The story rug, featuring mini beasts, made its debut at a special Storytime for National Libraries Day on 7 February. National Libraries Day has been celebrated by public libraries all over the UK on Saturday, and in Cambridgeshire, around 1000 people attended special events. As part of National Libraries Day, there is a special half price promotion on DVD and CD loans, which continues until Sunday 22 February.

This year's theme for National Libraries Day is Treasure Your Library. Library users have been doing just that, by using the library, by attending special events, and by generously donating books, money and time spent volunteering.

Ian Douglas, District Library Manager for Cambridgeshire County Council, said: "We'd like to thank Emily and Anne Campbell for treasuring their library in this way. This rug will help set the scene for all children that attend our Storytime and Rhymetime sessions."
