Electricity cabling work is due to take place along Cambridge Road in Ely, starting next week, to help benefit local businesses in Ely.
The work to lay a cable will take place along part of Cambridge Road and is due to start on Monday (5 June) for around three weeks. This is part of a project to increase the electricity capacity at Lancaster Way Business Park and will bring further high quality businesses and jobs to Ely, boosting the local economy.
Contractors will dig a trench to lay the cable and once the work is complete the trench will be filled and the road surface will be fully reinstated to ‘as new’ condition following the works using the same noise reduction tarmac. Work will be carried out during the day and the contractors will undertake the work in three 100 metre sections. In each section, parking restrictions and possibly temporary traffic lights will be in place to maintain safety. Residents are urged to help the contractors out by parking elsewhere between 7am and 7pm. There is no weekend or overnight work planned. The work will be carried out as quickly as possible to minimise disruption. Explanatory letters have been delivered to local residents and the local site manager will speak to as many residents as possible before and during the work.
Cambridge Road was resurfaced in August 2016. We would like to reassure residents that this additional work is being done at no cost to the tax payer. The County Council, its partners and Grovemere Property Ltd are working together to minimise disruption to local residents and those who use the road.
