Commuters and employers in St Neots and Royston areas are being given the opportunity to get help and funding to improve the journey to work.

Travel for Cambridgeshire (TfC) is looking to work with businesses based in between Cambridge and St Neots or Royston to encourage staff to commute more sustainably.
The partnership, has secured external grant funding as part of Cambridgeshire County Council's Local Sustainable Transport Fund (LSTF).

These funds can be used for the installation of new cycle stands, pool bikes, lockers and other types of infrastructure that will make getting to work without the car a more attractive option to staff. The LSTF project commenced on 1st April 2015, and follows on from the 2014 LSTF project, where TfC successfully worked with businesses in Huntingdon and Ely.

This year's funding is available for businesses located between Cambridge and St Neots, and Cambridge and Royston.

Cambridge based TfC currently works with around 200 employers, and have a range of tools and services available for businesses to promote cycling, walking, car sharing and public transport as viable alternatives to the car.

To take access these grants, local businesses have to be members of Travel for Cambridgeshire. Membership is free, and employers just have to contact TfC and complete an enrolment form. Once enrolled, employees of the enrolled business will be able to take advantage of discounted rail fares and cycle discounts, whilst employers will have access to a number of tools to help and encourage staff to commute to walk more sustainably. Whether a business simply wants to reduce demand on the car park, is looking to promote cycling as part of a health agenda or requires assistance with writing or monitoring their travel plan, TfC can help.

The Travel for Cambridgeshire Team look forward to working closely with employers in the St Neots area over the coming months to promote sustainable transport options, therefore reducing congestion in these areas.
