Provisional figures indicate that 93 per cent "“ 5446 pupils - will go to their preferred secondary school in the autumn, compared to just over 92 per cent last year.
A further 306 pupils were offered a place at their second or third preference school "“ compared to 302 pupils in 2015 - with only 101 pupils not getting any of their preferences.
This could be for a variety of reasons, such as applying to over-subscribed schools, or not applying to any of the schools within their child's catchment area. However, all were offered a place.
The number applying for places has also risen, from 5665 last year to 5853 this year.
