A public meeting is being held for residents of Godmanchester to hear about plans for a new primary school on the town's Bearscroft development.
The new school, which is due to open in September 2016, is being built to cater for the children of families moving into the new homes.
When it is full the school will have capacity for 315 4 to 11 year olds on a site large enough to expand to 420 places in the future, if/when required. The expectation is, therefore, that the new primary school at Bearscroft will provide for the wider needs of the Godmanchester community as well as the new development.
It will provide community access to its buildings for a range of organisations and activities, including early years education and childcare.
The new school will be run by a sponsor. A public meeting will be held for the local community to hear from the potential sponsors bidding to run the school before a final decision is made.
The meeting will take place on Wednesday, 2 July in the Refectory at the Wood Green Centre in Godmanchester, starting at 6.30pm. Everyone is welcome and there is no need to book.
