Flexible space, additional shelving and a comfortable seating area are now key features of the library, which had over 100,000 visits last year.

Two new community spaces are now available to hire, with access possible outside of the library's normal opening hours.

Christine May, Cambridgeshire County Council's Head of Community and Cultural Services said "The new spaces can seat up to 30 people "“ making them ideal for local community groups, presentations and meetings. There's also free wi-fi throughout the library. This work is part of our commitment to make libraries about much more than just books "“ and something that the whole community can use."

The new layout has also created an exhibition and display space in the foyer for both community and commercial customers to use to display anything from arts and crafts to public consultations.
