Resurfacing work on part of the A1309 Milton Road in Cambridge is due to start later this month.
The work will be carried out on the southbound carriageway across four nights from the A10/A14/Milton roundabout to the junction with Cowley Road.
The proposed work includes resurfacing of the southbound carriageway, new road markings and new road signs to provide a dedicated traffic lane for southbound vehicles to turn left into Cowley Road and to the new Cambridge North train station.
An overnight road closure of the southbound carriageway will be in place from May 17-20 from 8.30pm to 6am while the work is carried out.
The northbound lane towards the A14/A10/Milton roundabout will remain open to traffic.
Suzie Hall, Senior Project Officer for Cambridgeshire County Council, said: “For the safety of the operatives and the travelling public the southbound traffic lane of Milton Road from the A10/A14/Milton roundabout to the Cowley Road junction will be closed to traffic.
“We apologise for any delays that this may cause and ask motorists to leave plenty of time for their journey.”
The diversion route while the road closure is in place will be A14 (WB) – Cambridge Road B1049 – King’s Hedges Road – Milton Road.
The road closure will not affect the Park & Ride buses.
