Primary school application process opens

Parents in Cambridgeshire who want their child to start in Reception (the first year of formal schooling) next September are being encouraged to start applying now.

Applications must be submitted for any child born between 1 September 2010 and 31 August 2011, who wishes to start primary school in September 2015.

Additionally, children in Year 2 at an infant school, or Year 4 at a First School, will need to apply for a junior/middle school for September 2015 entry.

The completed forms must be received by the County Council’s admissions team by midnight on the national closing date, 15 January 2015.

The process can be completed online at: http://www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/admissions or by returning a paper form, which can be obtained from children’s centres, early years settings or any primary school and returned to the admissions team at the County Council.

If parents submit their applications late - or do not make an application - there is a risk that their child will not be offered a place at one of their preferred schools, including their catchment school, as other children’s applications (those received by the deadline) will be processed ahead of theirs.
