Master puppeteer Major Mustard will perform Robin Hood and His Merry Men.

John Goldsmith, Cambridgeshire County Council’s Curator of the Cromwell Museum said “The folk tale of Robin Hood has been known for hundreds of years and was almost certainly familiar to Oliver Cromwell in his childhood. Of course we do not know for certain what the young Oliver played with, but puppets are pretty universal and timeless. It promises to be an action packed show which will appeal to all the family, both young and old.”

In the morning Major Mustard is running a puppet-making workshop for children aged from 4-11 at Huntingdon Library. The workshop will show how you can make your own puppet from scrap materials – and make it come alive. Places on the workshop must be booked in advance and are £10 each.

The Friends of the Cromwell Museum are organising a competition for the best puppet to represent a character from Cromwell’s time – full details from the Museum. The competition is free to enter and runs through until September.
