Parking will be free at Cambridge's Park and Ride sites from 3pm on Wednesday 5th November to help people avoid traffic congestion and enjoy the City's firework display.

Visitors to the popular event are being advised to use Park and Ride as the easiest way to avoid traffic to the display which sees around 25,000 people a year.

Extra buses will be put on by Stagecoach and up to 3 children under 16 ride for free.

Last guaranteed service to reach the event before it commences leaves Park&Ride sites at approximately 6.30pm

Park and Ride users are reminded they will have to pay to park normally on the day but anyone arriving and then parking from 3pm will do so for free.

Cambridgeshire County Councillor Ian Bates, Chairman of Economy and Environment Committee, said: "This is a massive event in the city that sees around 25,000 people attending. To help people get into the city and avoid the traffic congestion we have made parking free from 3pm. With extra buses, free parking and children can travel for free Park and Ride is the best way to travel into the city and enjoy this spectacular event."
